Unlocking wind energy data: new video presents WindLab, Europe’s knowledge hub for the wind sector

BRIEF NEWS

Developed by MERIDIONAL together with FLOW and AIRE, WindLab makes wind-sector datasets and knowledge easier to find, share and reuse.

A new video is now available to present WindLab – Knowledge and Data Hub, an open-access network for data and learning, designed to support research and innovation in the wind energy sector.

Developed within MERIDIONAL in collaboration with FLOW and AIRE, WindLab brings together wind-energy-related datasets, research outputs and knowledge resources described through rich metadata. The platform aims to help researchers, developers, and industry stakeholders access and reuse data that can accelerate innovation in onshore, offshore and airborne wind energy systems.

The WindLab portal already hosts more than 1,100 datasets, with contributions from 27 organisations across 4 groups, offering resources linked to areas such as wind measurements, turbine modelling, wake studies, offshore wind infrastructure, SCADA data and simulation workflows.

Produced with the support of the Horizon Results Booster, the new video introduces WindLab’s role as a shared European resource for the wind community and highlights how open, well-structured data can contribute to more efficient, reliable and innovative wind energy systems.
