Parlamentarian Breakfast with German Politicians
SkySails and Airborne Wind Europe held a parliamentary breakfast with German politicians to discuss the potential of Airborne Wind Energy and its implementation.
On 17 October 2023, SkySails and Airborne Wind Europe held a parliamentary breakfast with politicians from Deutscher Bundestag to discuss the potential of Airborne Wind Energy and its implementation in Germany and beyond.
The breakfast was an opportunity to discuss the next steps for integrating AWE as a vital supplementary energy source in the EEG (Renewable Energy Sources Act).
The project partners pointed out how crucial political support is in propelling the industry forward: including Airborne Wind Energy in the EEG and giving it technology-specific tariff is becoming necessary.
To continue research and development in Germany, fair and equal airspace integration should be achieved and about a dozen flight restriction areas should be established for test and demonstration sites. Simplifying and expediting the approval procedures and access to grid connection are crucial actions too.
